Women's Soccer Falls To Dayton In Double Overtime, 3-2

Dayton, Ohio - In a highly anticipated match-up between two of the top teams in the Atlantic 10, Fordham's Kim Boulos netted two goals, but Dayton got an overtime goal from Kelsey Owen in the 102nd minute to give the Flyers a 3-2 win at Baujan Field in Dayton, Ohio.

With the loss, Fordham goes to 10-5-2 overall, 7-2-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Dayton improves to 13-5-1 on the year, 7-2-1 in the league. Both teams are now tied for second place in the Atlantic 10 with 22 points with one game remaining and Dayton having the tie-breaker.

Fordham opened the scoring in the eighth minute, as off a misplay in the box, Mariella Romano found Kim Boulos for her eighth goal of the season.

The half closed with Fordham holding onto the one-goal lead, despite Dayton having a 10-5 shot advantage.

Dayton then got on the board in the 47th minute as the second half got underway. Emily Kenyon found Jerica DeWolfe for an 18-yard shot and goal, for her fourth tally of the year.

The Flyers then grabbed a 2-1 lead just 3:30 later as Mandi Back scored her seventh goal of the season, as she went one-on-one with Fordham goalkeeper Elisabeth Roald on an assist from DeWolfe.

The scored stayed that way until the 86th minute, where Fordham got the equalizer. Boulos struck again for Fordham to the near post with Katie Sanchez getting the assist on the play.

With the score knotted at two, the game went into a second overtime period, where Colleen Gibson got a through ball into the box to Kelsey Owen, who then scored to the top of the net for her fourth goal of the year.

In net, Fordham's Elisabeth Roald recorded seven saves, while Dayton's Deana Waintraub had four saves.

The Fordham women's soccer team will now conclude their regular season on Sunday, November 2nd, at Xavier University, beginning at 1:00 PM.
