After a number of close conference matches over the past few weeks, the Fordham volleyball finally picked up their second conference win of the season on Sunday at Charlotte, where the Rams won in four sets at Halton Arena. Final set scores were 21-25, 25-22, 25-20, and 25-17.
With the win, Fordham moves to 13-14 overall, 2-6 in the Atlantic 10, while Charlotte falls to 9-15 overall, 1-8 in the league.
The biggest contributor to Fordham's win was the defense, as the Rams held Charlotte to an .071 hitting percentage over the final three sets, posting eight team blocks and 70 digs, which included four players finishing in double figures.
The Rams' offense was paced by Katie Wells, recording a match-high 15 kills and a .520 hitting percentage. Kailee May also added 15 kills to go with 10 digs for a double-double, while Sara Friede had a double-double as well with 13 kills and 12 digs. Katherine Burrell dished out 49 assists to go with 19 digs with Megan Arend also adding 14 digs.
The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Wednesday, October 29th, as they host Fairfield University at the Rose Hill Gym, beginning at 7:00 PM.
