Bronx, N.Y. - It was a picture perfect day at Jack Coffey Field for the Fordham women's soccer team's Senior Day, where five seniors, Kim Boulos, Elisabeth Roald, Alexis Ribadeneyra, Catherine Huvane, and Katie Sanchez suited up for the final time at home. All five came up big, as the Rams posted a 3-0 win over the UMass Minutewomen, clinching their third straight berth in the Atlantic 10 Championship tournament.

With the win, Fordham improves to 10-4-2 overall, 7-1-1 in the Atlantic 10, while UMass falls to 6-7-3 overall, 3-5-1 in league play.

"The team didn't play well in the first half, but they came back and did a great job in the second half," said head coach Ness Selmani. "The senior class led by example today. We're going to miss this class. They have been absolutely tremendous leaders for the program."

A scoreless first half between Fordham and UMass almost finished with a goal, as the Rams crashed the net, but the ball did not cross the line before time expired in the half.

The score stayed tied until the 62nd minute, where Fordham was finally able to breakthrough with a goal. Catherine Huvane's pass found Michelle Ancelj 15 yards out on the left side of the box. Ancelj was able to fight off a UMass defender and get a shot off that just rolled inside the far post for her second goal of the season.

The Rams made it 2-0 just 7:18 later, as Fordham was awarded a corner kick. Alexis Ribadeneyra took the corner kick and hooked the ball into the net for her first goal of the season.

Fordham then capped off the scoring in the 85th minute. After a foul by UMass gave Fordham a free kick, Kim Boulos rifled a shot off the crossbar. Courtney Fedge picked up the rebound and knocked it home from ten yards out for her second goal of the season.

Fordham limited UMass to just four shots on the afternoon, posting their third consecutive shutout and seventh overall. Elisabeth Roald recorded her third shutout of the season, but was not called upon to make a save, while UMass' Lauren Luckey made seven saves for the Minutewomen.

The Fordham women's soccer team will now focus on earning one of two first round byes at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship, as they have an all important match-up at the University of Dayton on Friday, October 31st, beginning at 7:30 PM. Currently, Fordham sits in second place with 22 points, followed by Dayton in third place with 19.
