Box Score
Philadelphia, Pa. -
Fordham's Matt Courtenay scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season, while Peter Graham added his first career goal, as the Fordham Rams shutout the La Salle Explorers, 2-0 at McCarthy Stadium in Philadelphia, Pa.
With the win, Fordham goes over the .500 mark for the first time this season at 6-5-1, 2-1 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle falls to 2-8-3 overall, 1-2 in the conference.
With both teams coming off victories over ranked opponents this past Sunday, the first goal of tonight's game was extremely important and fortunately went the Rams' way in the 14th minute.
Fordham's Tim Richardson ripped a shot toward the La Salle goal, which Explorers' goalkeeper Kyle Quigley dropped, allowing Matt Courtenay to pounce on the rebound and score his fourth goal of the season.
That score held up until the 70th minute, where the Rams were able to get a little insurance. Abe Chehebar found Peter Graham on the left side of the box, where he drilled a shot home for his first collegiate goal.
The Fordham defense was able to keep the sheet clean over the final 20 minutes, as Ryan Meara made a total of seven saves for his fifth shutout of the season.
The Fordham men's soccer will next be in action on Friday, October 24th, as they play at Dayton, beginning at 7:00 PM.
