Fordham Volleyball Falls to Texas Tech at Big Orange Tournament, 3-0

Syracuse, N.Y. - The Fordham University women's volleyball team opened play at the 2007 Big Orange Tournament at Syracuse University with a 3-0 loss to Texas Tech on Friday. Scores of the games were 30-26, 30-22 and 20-20. The loss evens Fordham's record at 5-5 on the year while the Raiders improve to 5-2.

The Rams hit a solid .306 in the first match but dropped to .120 in the second game as Texas Tech hit a sizzling .438 in the match as the Raiders led from start to finish. Fordham tried to come back early in game three, with three ties and one lead change early in the match, before falling 30-20.

Freshman Kailee May led the Rams with a team-high ten kills while hitting .368 in the match. She also recorded five digs. Freshman Christi Griffiths and sophomore Jolanda Gunning-Snowden each notched six kills for Fordham, with Griffiths adding three block solos and two block assists, while junior Katherine Burrell added 23 assists.

The Rams will continue play at the Big Orange Tournament on Saturday, facing the host school, Syracuse, at 12:30 pm and Princeton at 4:30 pm.
