Charlotte, N.C. - Despite a solid performance from Elisabeth Roald in goal and Kim Boulos' first goal of the season, the Fordham women's soccer team came away with their second consecutive tie of conference play as they played to a 1-1 tie with Charlotte on Sunday afternoon.
With the tie, Fordham is 3-3-3 on the year, 0-0-2 in the Atlantic 10, while Charlotte goes to 6-3-1 overall, 1-0-1 in the conference.
Fordham struck quickly as the Rams scored in the sixth minute of play. Kim Boulos netted her first goal as a Ram from 30 yards out, as Katie Sanchez recorded an assist on the goal.
Charlotte kept attacking throughout the contest, looking for the equalizer, and eventually found it in the 83rd minute. Fordham's Alexis Ribadeneyra was called for a foul in the box, awarding a penalty kick to Charlotte. Lindsey Ozimek then converted on the penalty kick for her fourth goal of the season to knot the game at one.
The game closed out with no further scoring, as Charlotte out shot Fordham, 23-7.
In net, Elisabeth Roald made a season-high 11 saves for Fordham, while Lauren Brown had four for Charlotte.
The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, October 7th, as they host La Salle for an Atlantic 10 match at noon. The game will be the first part of a soccer doubleheader at Jack Coffey Field.
