Box Score

Bronx, N.Y. - In a match with a number of momentum swings, Xavier's Hillary Otte recorded a match-high 20 kills, while Jill Quayle had 18 kills and seven blocks, as the Xavier Musketeers topped the Fordham Rams, 3-1, at the Rose Hill Gym.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 9-12 overall, 2-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Xavier moves to 12-6 on the year, 3-0 in league play.

Looking for just their second ever win against Xavier, Fordham started out soundly with a 30-27 win in game one. Xavier then changed setters, where they got out to a quick lead in game two and captured it, 30-19.

The momentum then swung back in Fordham's favor, as the Rams opened with the first nine points of game three, all coming off the serve of Bailey McKay. Unfortunately, the momentum again swung back to Xavier, as the Musketeers came back to win game three, 30-28.

Game four stayed close throughout, but Xavier eventually put away the match by a score of 30-27.

For Fordham, Lauren Fitzsimon and Katherine Burrell both posted double-doubles, as Fitzsimon had 10 kills and a career-high 15 digs, while Burrell had 42 assists, 14 digs and four kills. Christi Griffiths added 15 kills and five blocks, while defensively, Stephanie Frost notched 12 digs, putting her just three shy Fordham's career digs record, set by Tasha Johnston, last year.

The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Saturday, September 29th, as they host 16th-ranked Dayton at 4:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym..
