Bronx, N.Y. - After winning their conference opener last night, the Fordham volleyball team followed with a dominant performance tonight at the Rose Hill Gym, sweeping a three-game match from the Charlotte 49ers. Final game scores were 30-19, 30-19, and 30-13.
With the win, Fordham improves to 2-0 in the Atlantic 10, 9-10 overall, while Charlotte falls to 0-2 in the league, 8-7 overall.
The Fordham offense clicked on all cylinders during the match, posting hitting percentages over .400 in the first and third games, while recording a total hitting percentage of .384. In comparision, Charlotte hit .046 for the match.
The Rams had five players record at least seven kills in the match, showing a very balanced attack. Christi Griffths led all hitters with 13 kills, while Katie Wells had 10 kills and four blocks. Katherine Burrell notched the lone double-double with 41 assists and 12 digs, while Jolanda Gunning-Snowden and Jenna Hart each had eight kills. Hart added a season-high 15 digs, with Lauren Fitzsimon having seven kills and 12 digs.
The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Tuesday, September 25th, as they play at Stony Brook, beginning at 7:00 PM.
