Fordham Volleyball Edges Chattanooga In Three Games

Atlanta, Ga. - Following their earlier win over Central Florida, the Fordham Rams improved to 2-0 on the year with a three game sweep of Chattanooga, where Fordham had to score more than 30 points to win each game.

The tightly contested affair went 34-32 in favor of Fordham in game one, as the Rams survived two late game points, and scored the final three to win.

In game two, Chattanooga again got game point late, but Fordham got a pair of kills from Jolanda Gunning-Snowden, and a block by Katherine Burrell and Christi Griffiths to win the game, 33-31.

The Rams again held the Lady Mocs back in game three, 31-29, as Griffiths scored the final three kills to put Fordham up two games to none.

For Fordham, Burrell topped her earlier performances with a career-high 42 assists and 18 digs to go with five kills, while Emilie Stewart had an all-around solid match with 11 kills, 17 digs, four service aces and five assists. Griffiths and Gunning-Snowden had 11 and 10 kills respectively, while Lauren Fitzsimon chipped in seven kills and a career-high 17 digs.

The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Saturday, August 25, as they play two more matches at the Georgia State Invitational. The Rams meet East Tennessee State at 2:00 PM, and then face host Georgia State at 6:30 PM.
