Volleyball Sweeps La Salle

Philadelphia, Pa. - Behind a double-double from Kailee May and 11 kills and five blocks from Katie Wells, the Fordham volleyball team swept a three-game match from La Salle University at Tom Gola Arena in Philadelphia, Pa. Final scores were 30-24, 30-13, and 35-33.

With the win, Fordham improves to 15-18 overall, 5-7 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle falls to 10-23 overall, 1-12 in the league. The win moves Fordham into second place in the East Division, by a half game over George Washington and Charlotte, who finished the regular season at 5-8 in the Atlantic 10.

Fordham had a solid offensive night, hitting .314 as a team, led by Katie Wells, who finished with a .526 hitting percentage (11-1-19). Katherine Burrell also had another outstanding match at setter with five kills, 44 assists, eight digs, and two blocks.

Besides Wells and Burrell, Kailee May had a double-double with 19 kills and 10 digs, while Christi Griffiths added nine kills. Lauren Fitzsimon added six kills and 14 digs, with Stephanie Frost having 15 digs.

The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Saturday, November 10th, as they play at Temple University in their regular season finale at 1:00 PM.
