Bronx, N.Y. - After a pair of ties last weekend, the Fordham women's soccer team looked hungry for their first conference win of the season against La Salle this afternoon on Jack Coffey Field. They took charge from the opening moments of the game and took down the Explorers by a 2-0 count.

With the win, Fordham moves to 4-3-3 overall, 1-0-2 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle falls to 6-6 overall, 0-3 in the conference.

Fordham went ahead almost immediately, scoring at the 4:02 mark. Fordham goalkeeper Jen Byer punted the ball from her own end and took one hop over a La Salle defender. Katie Sanchez then picked up the ball, and put it past the La Salle goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the season.

That score held up until the 71st minute, where Kim Boulos fought off a couple of La Salle defenders, and fired home a shot from 20 yards to the right side for her second goal of the season.

Fordham's Jen Byer recorded her fourth shutout of the season, but did not record a save, as both of La Salle's shots sailed high of the net. Fordham out shot La Salle, 14-2, in the match. La Salle's Melissa Sanger had eight saves in net.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Friday, October 12th, as they play host Atlantic 10 opponent, Temple University, beginning at 5:00 PM, as the first half of a soccer doubleheader on Jack Coffey Field.
