Box Score

Bronx, N.Y. - Today's Atlantic 10 women's gamed featured two evenly matched teams as the University of Dayton entered the game with 6-2-2 conference record, good for fourth place, while Fordham University came into the contest with a 5-1-2 conference slate, good for fifth, three points behind the Flyers. And 110 minutes weren't enough to separate the two as the Rams and Flyers battled to a 1-1 tie on Jack Coffey Field.

With the tie, Fordham goes to 8-4-4 overall, 5-1-3 in the Atlantic 10, while Dayton goes to 12-4-3 overall, 6-2-3 in the conference.

The Flyers had a solid scoring chance in the first minutes of the game when Alli Foust collected a loose ball ten yards out and got off a shot that banged off the post.

A little while later, Dayton struck first as Mandi Bäck centered a pass to an open Lauren MacCormick, who settled the ball and got off a shot from 15 yards that beat Fordham keeper Elisabeth Roald to the far post in the 14th minute for her third goal of the year.

The Rams picked up the equalizer 13 minutes later when Michelle Ancelj jumped on a loose ball in the Dayton box and got off a shot from ten yards that deflected off a defender and into the net. It was her second tally of the season.

With nine minutes left in the first half, Fordham almost took a 2-1 lead when Ancelj got off a blast from 25 yards on the left side that went just wide.

In the second half, the Rams again had a chance to break the tie in the 55th minute when Erica Frizzell settled a cross and got off a shot from 20 yards that was caught by a diving Dayton keeper Niki Reed.

The Flyers also had a chance to take a lead in regulation when Bäck took a shot from 15 yards out that went just wide in the 79th minute.

A few minutes later, Fordham had its best chance at a tie-breaking goal when Katie McDermott took a shot from 25 yards with Reed making the save.

With just over three minutes remaining, Bäck went on alone on the left side and got off a shot from close range right into the arms of Roald.

Fordham had a couple of scoring chances in the first overtime, the first coming off the foot of Kim Boulos from 10 yards that hit the post, and the second from Katie Sanchez, who headed a direct kick that Reed kept out of the goal.

Roald recorded two saves in net for the Rams to bring her record to 2-1-2 on the year while Reed made five saves in the Dayton net.

The Rams will next be in action on Friday, November 2nd, as they travel to Pittsburgh to face Duquesne University in an Atlantic 10 match at 4:00 PM.
