Bronx, N.Y. - Looking to rebound after a loss to Temple on Friday, the Fordham volleyball team responded extremely well, as they posted a three-game sweep of La Salle at the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday afternoon. Final game scores were 30-16, 30-24, and 30-28.
With the win, Fordham moves to 11-16 overall, 3-5 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle goes to 9-19 on the year, 1-8 in the league.
Fordham generated offense from a variety of places as ten players scored points for Fordham, led by the Fordham middle hitter tandem of Christi Griffiths and Katie Wells. Wells posted a match-high 15 kills and two blocks, while Griffiths connected for 13 kills.
Overall, the Rams hit .294 for the match, while holding the La Salle offense to an .079 percentage.
Besides Wells and Griffiths, Fordham's Lauren Fitzsimon recorded 13 kills and five digs, while Katherine Burrell posted a double-double with 54 assists and 12 digs. Jenna Hart chipped in six kills and five digs with Sara Friede having five kills and nine digs.
The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Saturday, October 27th, as they host Atlantic 10 opponent, the University of Rhode Island, beginning at 2:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym.
