Volleyball Snaps Five-Game Skid With Win Over UConn

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham's Kailee May tied a season-high with 19 kills, while posting her fifth double-double of the season as the Fordham Rams snapped a five-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Connecticut Huskies at the Rose Hill Gym on Sunday afternoon. Final game scores with 30-26, 31-33, 30-24, and 30-25.

With the win, Fordham moves to 10-15 overall, while UConn drops to 12-8 on the year.

Fordham seemed to be in cruise control for most of the match, posting a .280 hitting percentage. The Rams led throughout games one and three, with only two lead changes in game four. The Rams also did well in the service game, posting 10 team aces.

Fordham showed a balanced offensive attack as five Rams had at least eight kills in the match with three adding double-doubles. Besides May, Lauren Fitzsimon had a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs, while Katherine Burrell dished out 54 assists with 14 digs, and five kills. Christi Griffiths and Katie Wells added 13 kills and 11 kills respectively with Emilie Stewart having eight kills, 11 digs, and three service aces.

UConn was led by Sade Chambers' 16 kills, while Gina Heiderman had 14 kills and four blocks.

The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Friday, October 19th, as they host Atlantic 10 opponent, Temple University, beginning at 7:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym.
