WATER POLO HAS ROUGH WEEKEND IN BOSTON

Oct. 13, 2007

Cambridge, Mass. - Whenever a Bronx team makes their way to the Boston area, there always seems to be trouble. That statement stayed true this weekend, as the Fordham water polo team dropped three matches to Brown, MIT and Harvard. With the losses, Fordham is now 9-10 overall, 1-3 in the Northern Division.

On Friday, Fordham held tough against Brown, but eventually fell by an 11-8 score.

Brown was able to hold Fordham's offense in check, as no Ram had more than two goals in the game. It was the first time in nine games that had occurred.

For Fordham, Ryan Hultman led the Rams with two goals and three steals, while Alex Powell and Taylor Landesman each had two goals. Todd Conway and Jakob Muller had the final two tallies for Fordham. In net, Timmy Will made seven saves.

On Saturday, the Rams opened the day with a 10-5 loss to Harvard. Hultman again led the way with two goals, while Landesman had a goal and an assist. Powell chipped in with a goal and two steals, while Andrew Dentinger had the final goal for Fordham. Will posted 10 saves in net, and had an assist.

In their second match of the day, MIT put together an 11-6 win over the Rams. Mark Connor was the Rams' top scorer in the game with two goals and an assist, while Paul Shrewsbury, Powell and Landesman each had a goal and an assist. Conway rounded out the scoring with a single goal, while in net, Will had seven saves and an assist.
