Bronx, N.Y. – (June 7, 2018) - Fordham women's soccer head coach
Jessica Clinton announced the team's 2018 schedule today. The women's soccer schedule features an opening day match with Women's College Cup semifinalist South Carolina, three games against 2017 NCAA Tournament teams, nine home contests, and a 10-game Atlantic 10 conference slate, as the Rams look to return to the Atlantic 10 Championship after a year-hiatus.
The Rams open the 2017 season on August 17
th in Columbia, South Carolina, where Fordham will take on South Carolina of the SEC. It will be a stiff early test for the Rams, as the Gamecocks reached the 2017 NCAA Women's College Cup semifinals, falling to eventual national champion, Stanford.
Fordham will continue its opening road swing on August 24
th at Holy Cross, followed by an August 26
th showdown at local rival Columbia.
Brooke Salmon returns for 2018 as a
two-time All-Atlantic 10 selection.
After three straight road contests, the Rams play six of the next seven games at home at Jack Coffey Field, leading right into Atlantic 10 action. Fordham's home opener is against NCAA Tournament team, Hofstra on August 30
th, followed by home contests against Yale (Sept. 6), Manhattan (Sept. 9), Marist (Sept. 14), Richmond (Sept. 20), and George Washington (Sept. 23). The only non-home game in that stretch is on September 2
nd at Lehigh.
Atlantic 10 play starts with back-to-back home contest against Richmond on September 20
th and George Washington on September 23
rd. The home slate will also see Massachusetts (Oct. 4), La Salle, who made NCAA's (Oct. 14), and Saint Joseph's (Oct. 18) visit Jack Coffey Field this season.
In Atlantic 10 road action, Fordham will have games at Davidson (Sept. 27), Rhode Island (Sept. 30), St. Bonaventure (Oct. 7), Saint Louis (Oct. 11), and Duquesne (Oct. 21).
With that conference schedule, the Rams will look for their third berth in the last four seasons in the Atlantic 10 Championship, which will happen October 27
th through November 4
th. Quarterfinal games will be played at higher seeded sites with the semifinals and championship game taking place at Dayton's Baujan Field in Dayton, Ohio.
