Newport News, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams and major award winners on Wednesday with two Fordham Rams being recognized. Junior
Brooke Salmon (West Hempstead, N.Y.) earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors as a defender, while junior
Clara Gastaldi (Suwanee, Ga.) was selected to the Academic All-Conference team.
This marks the third straight year that Fordham has had at least one player selected to the All-Conference team and the Academic All-Conference team.
A Second Team All-Atlantic 10 midfielder last year, Salmon earned the same Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honor in 2017 at a new position, as she took over as one of the Rams' starting center backs. She helped the Rams set a new single season team record for goals against average at 0.82, breaking the old mark of 0.84 set in 2007 and matched in 2015.
Salmon started all 19 games this season, helping the Fordham defense record seven shutouts, while offensively she netted two goals and an assist. One of her two goals was a game-winning goal in overtime to defeat Rhode Island.
Gastaldi, a Business Administration major with a concentration in Marketing, has a 4.00 GPA at Fordham and is a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Fordham Dean's List. She started 17 of the 18 games she appeared in this season, netting two goals and three assists for seven points. She tied for second on the team in both points and assists.
