Fordham women's soccer coach
Jessica Clinton announced the addition of seven student-athletes for the upcoming 2016 season.
The list of players includes
Shannon Burns (Hillsdale, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy),
Morgan Busacca (Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional),
Brittany DeBole (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East),
Kelly LaMorte (Haworth, N.J./Northern Valley Regional),
Juliana Mascelli (Clifton, N.J./Paramus Catholic),
Amanda Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny), and
Margaret Roughley (New Providence, N.J./New Providence).
"I am thrilled to be announcing our class of 2016. This incoming class not only adds depth to our program, but we see great development in each one of them. As a group, I believe they can contribute immediately to our already competitive and experienced team. They all come from strong high school and club programs that have had success on the national stage. They have been committed here for quite some time and we are excited to finally welcome them as Rams," said Clinton.
Shannon Burns Burns was a four-year starting defender at Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township, N.J., where she served as team captain. She earned Second Team All-State, First Team All-County, and First Team All-State Parochial, helping Immaculate Heart Academy to a State Championship in 2015. A four-time All-League performer as well as an All-North Jersey defender, she received the Blue Eagle Outstanding Character Award, as voted upon by her teammates. Burns played club soccer for the NJ Stallions Dynamite under coach Shaun Cryer along with fellow recruits Kelly LaMorte and Juliana Mascelli. With that squad, she contributed to two NPL Championships (2014 & 2015), three Disney Showcase Championships (2013-15), and two State Cup Championships (2012, 2015), as well as US Youth Soccer Region 1 and CASL Showcase Championships in 2015. Academically, she is a four-year honors student and a member of the National Honor Society.
Morgan Busacca Busacca was a four-year varsity soccer player at Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, N.J., seeing action in both the midfield and defender. She had an outstanding senior campaign, where she earned All-American honors and was the
Bergen Record Player of the Year. Listed as one of the top 20 players in New Jersey the last two seasons, she was a three-time First Team All-State and First Team All-Metro selection, while being a four-time First Team All-League and All-County performer. Busacca played club soccer for Match Fit Academy under coach Jordan Raper, where she competed in the ECNL Seattle Top 32 Team Nationals. Academically, she was a four-year honors student at Northern Highlands Regional.
Brittany DeBole DeBole was a four-year varsity soccer player at Sachem East High School in Farmingville, N.Y., where she was the team's leading scorer in three of her four seasons (2012-13, 2015). She earned All-League and All-Conference accolades as a senior, and was named the team's MVP, as well as Offensive MVP. For club soccer, DeBole played for ISA Girls '97 Thunder and Pride teams, under the direction of coach Tim Hearney and Nir Sveri, respectively. She served as team captain, helping the team to the 2014 Disney Showcase Championship, the 2013 CASL Showcase Championship, and two NEWS Championships (2013-14). In the classroom, she was a member of four different Honor Societies (National, National Science, National Foreign Language, and Business Law) and a four-year honor roll student.
Kelly LaMorte LaMorte played goalkeeper for four varsity seasons at Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, N.J., where she was a team captain as a senior and a three-time All-State honoree by the N.J. Girls Soccer Coaches Association (2012-14). Registering close to 500 saves over her career, she was a three-time First Team Big North National League honoree (2012-14) and a three-time All-County selection (First Team – 2014, Third Team – 2012-13). LaMorte played club soccer for the NJ Stallions Dynamite under coach Shaun Cryer along with fellow recruits Shannon Burns and Juliana Mascelli. With that squad, she contributed to two NPL Championships (2014 & 2015), three State Cup Championships (2012, 2014-15), as well as a US Youth Soccer Region 1 Championship in 2015. She also was recognized as the team's Best Defensive Player in 2012. Academically, she is a four-year member of the honor roll at Northern Valley Regional.
Juliana Mascelli Mascelli was a midfielder for three seasons on the varsity soccer team at Paramus Catholic High School, where she served as team captain as a senior. She had an outstanding senior campaign, earning All-North Jersey, All-County (Second Team), All-League (First Team), All-Suburban, and All-Non-Public honors. Prior to her senior year, she earned First Team All-League accolades twice (2012-13), as well as First Team All-County honors as a sophomore. Mascelli played club soccer for the NJ Stallions Dynamite under coach Shaun Cryer along with fellow recruits Shannon Burns and Kelly LaMorte. With that squad, she contributed to two NPL Championships (2014 & 2015), three State Cup Championships (2012, 2014-15), as well as a US Youth Soccer Region 1 Championship in 2015. In the classroom, she was a member of the National and International Honor Societies.
Amanda Miller Miller was a four-year starting forward for the varsity soccer team at North Allegheny High School in Wexford, Pennsylvania. She was a two-year captain and a two-time leading scorer for the squad, helping the team to its first two Section Championships. She also became the first North Allegheny player to earn All-State honors, while being a three-time All-Section and two-time All-WPIAL selection and earning All-Star status from the
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the
Pittsburgh Tribune Review. For club soccer, Miller played for the Beadling Wolfpack under coach David Gray, helping Beadling to three consecutive State Cup Championships and two straight undefeated campaigns at the Region 1 Championship. A four-year starting striker, she was invited to and played in the 2015 National Championships U19 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also helped the PA West ODP Team to a pair of Region 1 ODP playoff appearances (2013-14). Academically, Miller was a member of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of the honor roll and a four-time Scholar-Athlete Award winner.
Margaret Roughley Roughley was a multi-sport athlete at New Providence High School in New Providence, N.J., competing for the varsity soccer, basketball, and golf teams. A two-time team MVP, she served as team captain of the soccer team as a senior. She earned All-County and All-Conference honors three times each (2013-15), as well as County All-Star status twice (2014-15). She played club soccer for PDA O'Reilly under coaches Tom Anderson and Larry Hart, where she helped the team to a National finalist finish twice (2013-14). Academically, Roughley was a member of the National and National French Honor Societies and served as Class Treasurer for four years.
