Bronx, N.Y. - The 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Women's Soccer Team has been announced, and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Among those honored was Fordham senior defender
Nicole Bates (Basking Ridge, N.J.).
Bates' selection marks the second straight season that Fordham women's soccer has had an Academic All-District™ pick, as
Jessica Widmann earned the honor last year and went on to receive Third Team Academic All-America® honors.
Nicole Bates
An Applied Accounting & Finance major, Bates is a three-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team last season. Over that time, she has been a part of 26 shutouts, which included a school record 11 last season. She has four goals and two assists in her career, which includes a career-high three goals this season. Last season, she was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and to the Atlantic 10 All-Championship team after leading the Rams to the title game.
First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in November.
