Behind an outstanding effort by freshman
Ben Greenberg, the Fordham Rams kicked off a seven-game homestand at Houlihan Park with a 6-1 win over the Manhattan Jaspers in the Battle of the Bronx.

With the win, Fordham improved to 3-9 on the season, while Manhattan fell to 2-10.

The Rams opened the scoring in the third inning, as
Mark Donadio connected on a one-out triple to left center and scored on a bunt single by
Joseph Runco.   Runco then reached third on an error and a wild pitch, and came around to score on another error.

Fordham extended the lead to 4-0 with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth,
Ian Edmiston plated Runco on a sacrifice fly, while in the sixth
Joseph DeVito came up with an RBI-single to score
Ryan McNally from second base.
Mark Donadio had a pair of extra-base hits and
two runs scored on Tuesday.Â
After Manhattan picked up a run in the seventh, the Rams bounced back with two in the eighth. DeVito drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After a walk to Donadio, DeVito and Donadio pulled off a double steal to put runners at second and third.Â
Matthew Kozuch then drilled a single up the middle to score both runners for a 6-1 lead.

Joseph Serrapica nailed down the game from there, as he threw 2.1 innings of one-hit relief with four strikeouts for his first save of the season.

Ben Greenberg (1-0) was impressive, getting into the seventh inning in his first career start for the Rams and picking up his first collegiate victory. He ended the game with only one run allowed on six hits over 6.2 innings of work with four strikeouts.

At the plate, Donadio was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, a stolen base, and two runs scored, hile Runco was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Kozuch finished 2-for-4 with two RBI with DeVito going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base.

The Rams will have game two of their homestand on Wednesday, March 11
th, when they host Stony Brook at Houlihan Park, Beginning at 3:30 PM.
