The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its 2014 Ethics & Sportsmanship Award Winners on Monday, as 125 college teams received Gold, Silver, or Bronze standing. The Fordham women's soccer squad was one of 82 schools to receive the Silver Award.
The College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.
Fordham, who received just two yellow cards all season, was one of 82 teams that claimed the Silver Award, which is given to teams that accumulate no red cards and a maximum of five yellow cards, while the Bronze Award went to 35 teams, which is presented to teams that receive no reds and a maximum of 10 yellows.
Eight intercollegiate teams received the NSCAA's Gold Team Ethics Award for completing the entire 2014 season without receiving either a yellow or red card.
The Rams were the only Atlantic 10 team among the 125 honored schools.
