ECAC Release
Danbury, Conn. – (May 31, 2018) – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2018 Division I Baseball Awards and All-ECAC selections on Thursday. Among those honored was Fordham freshman infielder
Jake MacKenzie (Wallingford, Conn.), who was named First Team All-ECAC.
This is the fourth postseason award for MacKenzie, who was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year last week along with being named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team and Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team.
MacKenzie was the third Ram to receive Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year honors, joining Tom Stein (1996) and Cory Riordan (2005). A two-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, he registered a team-best 17 multi-hit games and 11 multi-RBI contests. He also finished the regular season as the Rams' team leader in runs scored (46), hits (58), triples (6), home runs (8), RBI (42), slugging percentage (.523), and stolen bases (34), while being second in batting average (.291). He was the Atlantic 10 leader in stolen bases and still ranks in the top ten in the NCAA. In league action, he batted .287 with 22 runs scored, five home runs, 18 RBI, and 16 stolen bases.
MacKenzie is Fordham's first All-ECAC selection since Tim Swatek in 2014.
