Atlantic 10 Release
Newport News, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced the 2018 Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference and All-Rookie teams on Wednesday. Among those honored were Fordham sophomore Ryan Kutch, who received his second Academic All-Conference Award and freshman Germaine Harbaugh who was named to the women's All-Rookie Team.
The Academic All-Conference teams are comprised of student-athletes who were selected based on their athletic and academic performance. To be nominated, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league's Sports Information Directors.
Kutch, a Finance major with a concentration in Business Economics, made the squad posting a 3.34 GPA.
The sophomore runner had a stellar spring campaign, earning First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors for winning the 10,000 meter run at this year's Atlantic 10 Championship.
At the Penn Relays, Kutch set a school record in the 10,000 meters, winning the event in a time of 29:43.54. The sophomore also picked up wins at the Metropolitan Championship (5,000m – 15:02.17) and at the Colonial Relays (3,000m – 8:26.94).
Kutch capped his outdoor season this past weekend at the NCAA Regionals, where he finished 40th in the 10,000 meters in 30:58.52.
The All-Rookie teams are comprised of the top-rookie performer in each event from meets conducted from the start of the regular season through the Atlantic 10 Championships. The teams were selected based off meet results submitted through the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS).
Harbaugh earned the top time in the 5,000 meter run based off her performance at the Atlantic 10 Championship where she finished 15th in a career-best time of 17:41.69.
