Women’s Track & Field Takes 13th at Colonial Relays

Rams Place in the Top 15 of 63 Competing Teams; Kenny Sets School Record in the 100 Meters

Final Results

Williamsburg, Va. – (April 5-7, 2017) – After three long days of dealing with rough weather, the Fordham women's track & field team fought their way into the top 15 of the standings at the 2018 Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.  The Rams ended up 13th out of 63 competing teams.
 
The three-day event began on Thursday in style, when Katarzyna Krzyzanowski took third in opening event of the Colonial Relays, the 3,000-meter Championship event in an ECAC qualifying time of 9:54.48.
 
On Friday, the Rams had another ECAC qualifier as well as a school record set.  First, it was Mary Kate Kenny breaking the 100 meter dash record, as she placed sixth in 12.12 seconds, breaking Kathryn Kelly's one week old record of 12.28 seconds.  Kelly finished 13th overall in 12.30 seconds with Laura Jaeger in 44th at 12.75 seconds.  The same trio also competed in the 200 meters with Kenny in 14th (24.75), Kelly in 21st (25.08), and Jaeger in 25th (25.16).
 
In the 800 meters, Merisa Wright was the top Ram, taking 11th in 2:13.05 with Aidan Moroz in 28th in 2:16.60, while in the 1500 meters, Angelina Grebe clocked 4:45.03 for 40th overall with Brynna Harum right behind her in 41st in 4:45.34.
 
The hurdles events saw Emily Silfies finish 48th in the 100 meter hurdles in 16.45 seconds, while Jennifer Boerke was 34th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:06.55).

The final running event on Saturday saw Laurel Fisher earn third place with an ECAC qualifying time of 10:43.50.  In the field events, Sophia Jagoe-Seidl was 13th in the javelin throw with a distance of 108'4" with Kelly posting a mark of 16' 10 ¾" in the university long jump event.
 
Saturday saw the relays take center stage, as the Rams competed in five relay events, scoring in four.  Fordham's top finish came in the 1600 meter sprint medley relay, where Kelly, Kenny, Boerke, and Wright was second in 4:05.20.  The Rams were also third in the 4x100 relay, when Kelly, Mary Kate Caucci, Jaeger, and Kenny clocked in at 49.40 seconds.
 
Fordham's 4x800 relay team of Moroz, Kate McCormack, Harum, and Krzyzanowski earned fifth in 9:22.21 with the 4x1500 relay squad of Fisher, Grebe, Abigail Taylor, and Sydney Snow finishing eighth in 20:13.29.  The Rams' final relay was the 4x200 relay of Silfies, Caucci, Jaeger, and Jagoe-Seidl in 13th in 1:54.28.
 
The Fordham track & field team is next in action April 13-14 at the Metropolitan Championships in Piscataway, N.J.
