Max Green won at second singles and third doubles to lead the Fordham men's tennis team to a 4-2 win over Saint Joseph's at Life Time Athletic on Saturday. With the win, Fordham improves to 13-6 on the season.
The Rams opened the match taking the doubles point, winning two of the three doubles matches. Green and
Allen Thornes opened double splay by taking third doubles from Dan Tan and Peter DeWitt, 6-3, but
Lutwin de Macar and
Fabian Hansch Mauritzson fell at first singles to Beekman Schaeffer and Tim Stierle, 6-3. So the doubles point came down to the second position where
Finn Kemper and
Jeremy Chung defeated Andre Fick and Johnnie Massart, 6-4, to earn the point for the Rams.
Green opened singles action with a 6-0, 6-0, shutout of Schaeffer at the second spot before the hawks scored a point when Stierle took first singles from de Macar, 6-4, 6-1.
Saint Joseph's tied the match at two when Tan defeated
Alex Makatsaria at sixth singes, 6-1, 6-3, but the Rams took the contest with wins by Mauritzson and Kemper at the third and fourth singles positions. Mauritzson defeated DeWitt, while Kemper upended Fick, by identical 6-4, 6-1 scores.
The Rams return to action on Sunday, April 8 as they host Navy at Life Time Athletic.
