Anthony Coyle signed an NFL free agent contract with the Houston Texans it was announced on Saturday night. Coyle joins running back
Chase Edmonds, who was selected in the fourth round by the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, in the NFL.
Coyle, a four-year starter on the Fordham offensive line, started all eleven games at left tackle in 2017, receiving first team ECAC All-Star and first team Patriot League honors for the second straight year. He also received the Lansing Trophy as Fordham's outstanding lineman for the second consecutive year. Coyle blocked for an offense that averaged 371.7 yards of total offense/game, third best in the Patriot League, including 238.9 passing yards/game, also third best in the league and 31st among all NCAA FCS teams.
As a junior in 2016, Coyle started all eleven games at left tackle and received first team ECAC All-Star and All-Patriot League accolades. Coyle helped the Fordham offense lead the Patriot League and rank fourth in the NCAA FCS in total offense, averaging 498.2 yards/game, and lead the league and rank 12th in the NCAA FCS in rushing offense, averaging 229.7 yards/game. The Rams also led the Patriot League and were fourth in the nation in scoring, averaging 40.1 points per game while setting a single-season team rushing mark with 2,527 yards.
In 2015, Coyle capped his sophomore season be earning second team All-Patriot League. He started all 12 games at left tackle in 2015, helping the Fordham offense lead the Patriot League and rank ninth in the NCAA FCS in scoring, averaging 36.8 points per game. The Rams also led the league and were second in the NCAA FCS in passing efficiency (168.30). The Fordham offense ranked second in the league and 20th in the NCAA FCS in passing yards/game (272.3), 21st in the NCAA FCS in first downs and third in the conference and 43rd in the NCAA FCS in rushing yards/game (180.9).
