Philadelphia, Pa. – It was a banner day for the Fordham track & field team in Philadelphia on Thursday at the annual Penn Relays, as sophomore
Ryan Kutch won the 10,000 meter run at Franklin Field in a record-breaking time of 29:43.54.
Kutch broke the school record of 29:56.3, previously set by Kevin Giannetti in 1985. The individual win was also the first by a Ram at the Penn Relays since Lauren Gubicza in 1992.
Also competing on day one was
Laurel Fisher who finished seventh in her heat and 20
th overall in the steeplechase in a time of 10:45.88.
Fordham also ran two relays on day one as the 4x100 relay of
Mary Kate Kenny,
Mary Kate Caucci,
Laura Jaeger and
Kathryn Kelly finished 38
th in a season-best time of 48.09 seconds and the 4x400 relay of
Aidan Moroz, Jaeger,
Dana Beggins and
Merissa Wright placed 42
nd in 3:54.46.
Day two of competition will resume on Friday with events concluding on Saturday.
