Football Wraps Up Spring Practice with Spring Game

Offense bests defense on Coffey Field

Bronx, N.Y. – Though it didn't quite feel like spring on a damp and chilly Jack Coffey Field, the Fordham University football squad closed out its spring practice schedule with the Maroon and White game on Friday night.

Under a special scoring system, the offense, wearing white, edged the defense, clad in Maroon, 92-77, though both sides of the ball showed flashes of good things to come.

The scoring system for the game was:

Offensive Points
First Down – 2 points
Third/Fourth Down Conversion – 2 points
X Play (20+ yard gain) – 3 points
Snapping Ball with :25 on Play Clock – 1 point
Touchdown/Field Goal – Point Value of Score

Defensive Points
Third/Fourth Down Stop – 2 points
Sack/TFL – 3 points
Three-and-Out Drive – 4 points
Interception – 5 points
Forced Fumble – 5 points

The Rams will open their 119th season of varsity football on Saturday, September 1, as they travel to Charlotte, N.C., to face the Charlotte 49ers.

Fordham will open its home schedule on Saturday, September 15, as they host the Stony Brook University Seawolves on Jack Coffey Field.
