Series History
Fordham and Yale have a long series history, dating back to 1870, but the vast majority of game took place prior to 1973. The Rams and Bulldogs have met only four times in the last 35 years, which included an 8-4 win by Yale last season. Overall, Fordham holds a slight edge in the all-time series at 34-31, and this will be the Rams' first visit to New Haven since 1983.
Last Time Out
George Washington's Nathan Woods tossed a complete game, five-hitter with eight strikeouts, while Dominic D'Alessandro drove in a pair of runs, as the Colonials took the rubber game of the series over the Fordham Rams, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon at Houlihan Park.
The Colonials put the Rams in a hole earlier with three runs in the second inning. With runners at the corners and two away, Fordham pitcher
Anthony DiMeglio got Matt Cosentino to ground out to short, but
Matt Tarabek fumbled the ball and could not make the throw in time, allowing an unearned run to score. Two more unearned runs scored later in the frame on RBI-singles by Isaiah Pasteur and Brandon Chapman for a 3-0 lead.
George Washington added to the lead with three more runs in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run double to right center by Dominic D'Alessandro.
Fordham got on the board in the bottom of the fifth to make it 6-1 on an RBI-single by
Jake Baker, scoring
Brian Goulard, who walked and moved to second on a single by
Colton Snelling.
GW got that run back right away in the sixth on an RBI-single from Robbie Metz, re-gaining a six-run edge.
The Rams would only get one run the rest of the way, scoring on an error in the bottom of the sixth after a double by
Justin Bardwell.
DiMeglio (5-1) took his first loss of the season, allowing three earned runs on seven hits over five innings of work.
Mike Cowell went the next two innings, allowing one run on two hits, while
Matt Mikulski and
Joseph Quintal each threw a scoreless inning.

At the plate, Fordham managed just five hits in the game. Baker was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Snelling also had a pair of hits.
That Was Quick
With the Rams' first win over La Salle on April 14
th, Fordham hit the 20-win mark as a team. This is the earliest calendar date for the Rams to reach 20 wins since the 1991 team also reached 20 victories on April 14
th. Over the last 30 years, the Rams have only gotten to 20 wins faster was the 1988 season, which hit 20 on April 9
th. That 1988 team went on to set a modern day school record with 36 wins.
He's Going, He's Going
A popular phrase heard at Fordham's Houlihan Park at any Rams' home game is "He's going, he's going!" That phrase has certainly been true throughout the 2018 season. This year, the Rams have 125 stolen bases, which marks the 11
th time that Fordham has surpassed the 100-stolen base plateau in team history. The total currently stands third all-time at Fordham behind only the 157 stolen bases in 2008 and the 141 in 1991. The Rams rank first in the Atlantic 10 and first in the country in overall steals, while the team's 3.29 average is also tops in the nation. Individually, 11 Rams have at least one stolen bases this season and six are in double figures.
Who's Next
Following the contest at Yale, Fordham will be back in Philadelphia for the second time in three weeks, as the Rams take on Saint Joseph's for a three-game Atlantic 10 series, April 27-29.
