Pennsauken, N.J. – On Saturday, April 21st, the Fordham Women's Rowing team continued its spring season by competing at the Cherry Hill Invitational on the Cooper River. The women got off to a slow start during the morning heats but rallied to put forward very strong rows during their finals.

The JV 8+ crew was the only crew from the morning to advance to the grand final in their event. The JV 8 + came in third place in their heat with a time of 7:12.64 to beat out Georgetown and MIT. In the grand final the Rams finished in fourth place with a time of 7:04.62, in front of Lehigh and Bucknell.

The Varsity 8+ crew began their morning by placing sixth, in what was a very competitive heat. The women' completed the course in 6:58.39 and went on to row in the petite final. During the petite final, the Varsity 8+ pulled together one of their strongest and most cohesive rows of the season to place second in 6:53.61, just two seconds behind first place Connecticut.

Fordham also raced two Varsity 4+ crews in the First and Second Varsity 4+ events. Each 4+ took fifth in their morning heat, the First Varsity 4+ with a time of 8:37.50 and the Second Varsity 4+ with a time of 8:42.11, in their respective events. Both 4+s continued on to their petite finals. In the petite final, the First Varsity 4+ Crew managed to shave eight seconds off their time to take third place in a time of 8:29.83. The Second Varsity 4+ went on to have a very strong row and won their petite final with a time of 8:24.49, three seconds in front of second place Marist.

The Fordham Fourth Varsity 8+ crew rowed very well in their event. The crew raced just once in a final-only event. The Rams came in second place with a time of 8:02.68, finishing behind Rutgers, but beating out both the Bucknell A and B crews.

The Rams will spend the next two weeks preparing for the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships which will be held on the Cooper River, in Pennsauken, N.J. on Saturday, May 5th.
