#A10SAAC Launches "Respect" Campaign

Fordham represented by volleyball’s Emily Fronk

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference represents 14 institutions and more than 6,000 student-athletes of different races, genders, and cultures. To kick-off its new conference-wide "Respect" campaign, the A-10's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has unveiled a one-minute video, highlighting an area each institution upholds as a principle of respect on their campuses.

SAAC members, representing each of the A-10's institutions, met in January to discuss campus and national issues during the A-10 Winter Joint Meetings at the NCAA Convention in Indianapolis. The video is a by-product of the discussions, and developed to bring attention to the issues most important to A-10 student-athletes.

"We have great stories to tell on our campuses and wanted not only our membership, but the NCAA membership to know that the Atlantic 10 and its student-athletes are not only committed to demonstrating "respect" for each other, but living it and making it a priority in everything we do," says Millie Micho, A-10 Division I SAAC Representative.

The video features a student-athlete from each of the A-10 members, speaking about a principle of respect on their campus, such as diversity, inclusion, mental health awareness, academic success and other priorities.  SAAC representatives produced the entire video, narrowing down topics, writing scripts and finally providing guidelines for filming their respective videos. Fordham was represented in the video by senior volleyball student-athlete Emily Fronk.

"This is an impressive initiative," stated Atlantic 10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. "The A-10 SAAC has been actively committed to social issues throughout the years, and this is another great example of their collective work."
