Philadelphia, Pa. - Last Saturday, April 14th, the Women's Rowing Team competed at the Kerr Cup Regatta on the Schuylkill River. It was a busy day of racing for the team who had six crews racing in five different events.
The Varsity 8+ and JV 8+ crews performed exceptionally well. The JV8+ placed second in their heat with a time of 7:42.53 and advanced to the grand final. In the final, the JV8+ took third overall, finishing behind Rhode Island and Drexel in 7:36.43. The Varsity 8+ crew took first place in their heat completing the course in 7:24.82. The V8+ advanced to the grand final, where they too placed third, just behind Rhode Island and Drexel, with a time of 7:22.16.

In the Varsity 4+ A event, the Fordham women had a solid row which placed them fourth in their heat with a time of 9:11.13. In the Varsity 4+ B event, Fordham had two crews (A and B) entered. The A crew placed second in their heat with a time of 9:28.36, while the B crew also took second place in their heat with a time of 8:50.16. Both crews advanced to the final where the B crew took first place in a time of 8:47.33, a full 11 seconds in front of conference competitors Rhode Island. The A crew finished in fourth place with a time 9:23.75.

The Novice 8+ competed in a final only event where they took second place in 8:14.68 finishing behind West Point, and beating out Robert Morris and Stockton.

The Fordham women will be racing again this Saturday, April 21st, at the Cherry Hill Invitational on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J.
