Joseph Chartouny was named to the 2018 Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team it was announced today. The league announced its awards Tuesday in advance of the 2018 Men's Basketball Championship, which begins Wednesday at Capital One Arena.

Chartouny was also named to the All-Academic team and was joined on the team by junior forward
Prokop Slanina.

Chartouny, a Business Administration major, has appeared in 28 games at guard for the Rams in 2017-2018, starting 27. He is averaging 12.0 ppg, third best on team, and leads team with 5.6 rpg. He also leads the NCAA with 93 steals (3.32/game) and is one steal shy of tying his Fordham single season steals record set last year. Chartouny currently ranks first in steals (3.3), seventh in assists (4.5), and 21st in reÂbounding (5.6) in the Atlantic 10. He is one of three A- 10 players to rank in the top 25 in assists, steals and rebounds, joining Davidson's Jon Axel Gudmundsson and Saint Louis' Jordan Goodwin.

Over his career, Chartouny has 243 career steals, third on the Fordham career steals list, and 431 career assists, good for fifth all-time.

Slanina, a Communications major, has appeared in 28 games at forward for the Rams in 2017-2018, starting 27. He is averaging 12.5 ppg (second best on team) along with 5.1 rpg (third on team) while shooting .491 (139-283) from the field and .352 (32-91) from behind the arc. He leads team with 36 blocks and has three double-doubles on the year.

Fordham, seeded 14th, opens play at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship on Wednesday night when the Rams face 11th-seeded George Washington University at 8:30 p.m. at the Capital One Arena.
