Raleigh, N.C. – Members of the Fordham track & field team opened the outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina this weekend where freshman
Kathryn Kelly set a school record and the Rams posted five ECAC/IC4A qualifying times.
Kelly set the school record in the 100 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.28 seconds, good for a 28th place finish. Kelly bested the previous time of 12.33 seconds set by teammate
Mary Kate Kenny last season.
Laurel Fisher finished 25th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in an ECAC qualifying time of 10:54.43. Fisher's time was the second fastest in program history, behind only
Brianna Tevnan who holds the record with a time of 10:39.55.
Also posting IC4A qualifying times were
Brian Cook, who finished 21
st in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a a time of 9:14.82,
Antony Misko who finished 14
th in 48.96, while
Ryan Kutch took 35
th in the 10,000 meter run in a time of 29:58.32.
Other individual performers included
Jared Benn (26
th – 49.64) and
Christopher Strzelinski (55
th – 51.65) in the 400 meter dash and
Fritz Heinrich (99
th – 3:59.89) and
Louis Santelli (113th - 4:05.44) in the 1,500 meter run.
Also competing on the women's side were
Mary Kate Kenny (37
th – 12.51) in the 100 meter dash,
Merissa Wright (18
th – 57.53) and
Aidan Moroz (37
th – 58.63) in the 400 meter dash,
Angelina Grebe (91st – 17:39.84) in the 5,000 meter run and
Kate McCormack (108th – 4:44.94) in the 1,500 meter run.
On day two Fordham competed in two events. First up was the women's 200 meter dash where Kenny finished 10th in 24.99 seconds, while Kelly placed 14th in 25.31 seconds.
Concluding day two for the Rams was the 4x800 relay where the women took second in an ECAC qualifying time of 9:02.07, while the men placed sixth in 7:43.23.
