North Haven, Conn. – The Fordham women's tennis team picked up its second straight win to begin the spring season, defeating Quinnipiac 6-1 at the North Haven Health & Racquet Club on Saturday.
Fordham opened the match taking the doubles point as
Carina Ma and
Estelle Wong defeated Dominique Vasile and Jennifer Lu 6-1 in first doubles and
Maia Balce and
Gianna Insogna bested Payton Bradley and Layla Rodriguez 6-3 at the third doubles position.
The Rams then went on to take all but one singles match as Ma earned a hard-fought three set victory over Vasile 7-6, 2-6, 10-6 in first singles, Wong defeated Lu 6-4, 6-1 in second singles,
Tatiana Grigoryan cruised past Bradley 6-2, 6-2 at third singles, Balce defeated Rodriguez 6-3, 6-3 in fourth singles and
Gianna Insogna defeated Scarlett Blydenburgh 7-6, 6-2 at the fifth singles position.
The Rams return to action Friday February 9 as they travel to Newark, N.J. to take on NJIT.
