Newport News, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly tennis awards on Wednesday, with Fordham's
Lutwin de Macar named Men's Rookie of the Week.
It is the first weekly honor for de Macar this season.
The freshman continued his stellar play going 4-0 in his weekend's matches to help lead the Rams to victories over Sacred Heart and Connecticut. On Friday, de Macar defeated Sacred Heart's Derek Chapman 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 in second singles and teamed with
Fabian Hansch Mauritzson to defeat the Pioneers 7-5 at the first doubles position. On Saturday, he defeated UConn's Yili Zheng 6-4, 7-6 at first singles before teaming with Hansch Mauritzson defeating the Huskies 7-5 at the first doubles position.
The Rams return to action Sunday March 4 as they host St. John's at Life Time Athletic.
