Bronx, N.Y. – The Patriot League's seven-member football programs combined to place a League record 233 student-athletes on the 2017 Patriot League Football Academic Honor Roll, when it was announced by the League office on Friday. Included on the list were 39 Fordham student-athletes.

Bucknell placed a League-high 48 members on the academic honor roll, besting their mark of 46 from 2016. Fordham had 39 student-athletes earn a spot on the academic honor roll, while Lafayette had 38 and Colgate had 34 qualify, as each program saw an increase of 10 or more student-athletes to the list. Holy Cross (31), Georgetown (27) and Lehigh (17) also posted strong numbers to help set a League record.

Thirteen of the 14 student-athletes selected to the 2017 Academic All-Patriot League Football team earned a spot on the honor roll, including 2017 Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year Alex Pechin (Bucknell, Jr., P). Bison teammates Jack Horan (Sr., WR), Andrew Podbielski (Sr., TE) and Mark Pyles (Sr., LB) all made the list. Colgate's Josh Cerra (Jr., P), Fordham's
Jonathan Dimon (Sr., DL), Georgetown's Jelani Williamson (Sr., CB) and Jim McLaughlin (Sr., WR), Holy Cross's Ryan Brady (Jr., LB) and Jayke Simsheuser (Sr., TE), Lafayette's Trent Crossan (Jr., DB) and Andrew Chuma (Jr., DL), and Lehigh's Harrison Kauffman (Jr., DL) all made the honor roll.

The Patriot League also placed 28 of the 59 2017 All-Patriot League First and Second team selections earn a spot on the academic honor roll, including Fordham senior running back
Chase Edmonds, the League's career leader in rushing yards (5.862), all-purpose yards (7,314), total touchdowns (74) and rushing touchdowns (67), also made the list.

Eight student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester, including three Rams: Dimon, junior
Austin Longi and senior
Clayton Welsh.

To be eligible for the Fall Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports.
