Kingston, R.I. – The Fordham women's track and field team opened competition at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday at Rhode Island's Mackal Fieldhouse.
Though the Rams did not score on day one, Fordham will have three runners in Sunday's finals.
The highlight of the day for the Rams came in the 1,000 meter run, where
Kate McCormack qualified second for the finals with a time of 2:55.57.
In the 200 meter dash,
Mary Kate Kenny qualified fifth in a time of 25.11 and
Aidan Moroz qualified fifth in the 500 meter dash in a time of 1:16.60.
Other individual performers on Saturday included
Anais Karagianni (12
th – 9.122) in the 60m hurdles,
Dana Beggins (9
th – 1:18.50) in the 500 meter dash, Kenny (9
th – 7.857),
Kathryn Kelly (10
th – 7.854) and
Laura Jaeger (21
st – 8.21) in the 60 meter dash,
Merissa Wright (9
th – 2:16.38) in the 800 meter run,
Blake Elwood (11
th – 2:58.97) in the 1,000 meter run, Kelly (11
th – 25.33) and Jaeger (26.29) in the 200 meter dash and
Angelina Grebe (9
th – 17:26.86),
Stephanie Leo (18
th – 17:59.28) and
Abigail Taylor (19
th – 17:59.37) in the 5,000 meter run.
In the field events, Kelly took 13
th in the long jump with a jump of 5.17m while
Sarinnagh Budris placed 22
nd with a jump of 4.88m.
The final event of the day was the distance medley relay, where the Rams placed ninth in a time of 12"06.04.
Sunday's action at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship begins at 9:00 AM.
