Geneva, Ohio – (February 16, 2018) – The third day of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship has concluded at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. After three days of action, Fordham remains in fifth place out of 11 teams.
Richmond has claimed the top spot by the smallest of margins with 401 points, leading Duquesne by one point (400). George Washington is in third with 295.5 points, followed by St. Bonaventure (284), Fordham (281.5), Massachusetts (214.5), George Mason (165), Saint Louis (145), La Salle (119), Davidson (105.5), and Rhode Island (104).
The third day began with the women's 400 individual medley, where
Jacqueline Dominger placed eighth in the "A" final in 4:25.52, while
Bayley Frierson won the "B" final for ninth overall in 4:24.24.
Nele Albers also scored in the event, claiming 12
th in 4:27.99.
Next up was the 100 butterfly, where
Tara Brunner had a career-best finish by claiming bronze in third place with a time of 54.63 seconds, followed by
Michelle Martin in fourth place in 55.05 seconds.
Hannah McGee was the final scorer in the 100 butterfly in 12
th place in 56.74 seconds.
Michelle Martin scored in two individual events on Friday.
It was three more scorers in the 200 freestyle event for the Rams, led by
Caitlin McNary, as she placed sixth in 1:49.56.
Erin McBride was 11
th overall in 1:51.66 with
Theresa Mullen in 15
th in 1:52.37.
Fordham just missed scoring in the 100 breaststroke event, as Albers was 18
th overall in the preliminaries in 1:04.98.
The final individual event was the 100 backstroke, where Martin earned sixth place with a time of 55.60 seconds.
The last event of the evening was the 400 medley relay, where Martin, Albers,
Amelia Bullock, and McNary finished fifth overall in 3:45.01.
The Atlantic 10 Championship concludes on Saturday with the 200 backstroke, the 100 and 1650 freestyle, the 200 breaststroke, the 200 butterfly, the three-meter dive, and 400 freestyle relay events. Action begins with preliminaries at 10:00 AM.
