Geneva, Ohio – (February 16, 2018) – The third day of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship has concluded at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.  After three days of action, Fordham remains in eighth place out of eight teams.

George Washington remains in the top spot of the Championship with 494 points, followed by George Mason (371), La Salle (326), Massachusetts (300), Saint Louis (280), St. Bonaventure (248.5), Davidson (246.5), and Fordham (228).

The first event on day three was the 400 individual medley, but Fordham was unable to find the scoring column, as the Rams' best finish was 22nd by Nathaniel Guenther in 4:04.33.

The Rams didn't have a problem scoring in the 100 butterfly with three swimmers getting points, led by Joe Mercurio, who earned his second silver medal of the championship by taking second in a school record and NCAA "B" cut time of 47.98 seconds.  He bested the previous record of 48.31 by Shintaro Noguchi in 2016.  Kevin Berry was seventh overall in 49.10 seconds with Tommy Christensen taking 12th overall in 49.65 seconds.

Next was the 100 backstroke where Auston Ramsay set a new school record in the preliminary round, clocking in at 48.72 seconds, breaking the 2001 record of 49.23 seconds, set by Keanan Faruq.  IN the finals, Ramsay took seventh in 49.04 seconds.

In the three-meter dive, Christopher Craig performed well, scoring 245.20 points, which was good for tenth overall.

The final event of the day was the 400 medley relay, where Ramsey, Monahan, Mercurio, and Vizza finished fifth in a school record time of 3:16.61, besting last year's mark of 3:17.93.

The Atlantic 10 Championship concludes on Saturday with the 200 backstroke, the 100 and 1650 freestyle, the 200 breaststroke, the 200 butterfly, and the 400 freestyle relay events.  Action begins with preliminaries at 10:00 AM.
