Top of the Rotation
Though last year's top starter
Jimmy Murphy is in the Baltimore Orioles' farm system, the Rams aren't lacking for depth in the rotation, led by junior
Reiss Knehr, who will step into the top spot for the Rams this season. Knehr led the Rams with 86 strikeouts over 73.2 innings, while holding opponents to a .231 batting average. The Rams are also happy to see a healthy
Ben Greenberg back on the hill. The senior hurler missed all of last season with injury, but brings back a career 2.95 ERA and over 120 innings of experience.
Super Sophs
Following freshman seasons that saw both earn Freshman All-American honors, sophomore
Kyle Martin and
Alvin Melendez are both back in the Rams' bullpen. Martin tied for the team lead in wins with six and made a team-high 23 appearances in 2017 to go with a 2.76 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 32.2 innings. Melendez notched a team-best six saves and 0.76 ERA to go with three wins in 23.2 innings.
Who's Next
The Rams will have their home opener on Wednesday, February 21
st against the Army Black Knights at 3 PM, and then travel to Tampa next weekend for a three-game series against USF Bulls from February 23-25.
