Boston, Mass. – (February 10, 2018) – Day two of the Valentine Invitational at BU Track & Tennis Center on Saturday saw the men's events take center stage with excellent results for the Fordham Rams, highlighted by a school record in the 1000 meter run.
Senior
Brian Cook placed ninth overall in the 1000 meter run in a school record and IC4A qualifying time of 2:24.97, breaking the mark of 2:25.80, set by teammate
Louis Santelli earlier this season.
Fritz Heinrich also competed in the 1000 meter event, placing 35
th overall in 2:31.19.
In the 800 meters, Santelli improved on his earlier IC4A qualifying time from this season, as he placed 15
th overall in a season-best time of 1:50.91.
Christopher Strzelinski also has a great run in the 800, clocking in at 1:54.85, which was a personal best and good for 54
th overall. Other runners in the 800 for Fordham included
Michael Campbell (1:59.35 – 163
rd),
Byrne Cronin (1:58.90 – 152
nd), and
Patrick Dineen (1:59.94 – 173
rd).
Sean Phillips
The final IC4A qualifier on Saturday was
Sean Phillips, who won his heat of the mile run in an IC4A time of 4:13.29, good for 73
rd overall.
Thomas Slattery (4:14.79 – 91
st) and
Ryan Kutch (4:14.99 – 93
rd) just missed the IC4A qualifying mark in the mile, as did
Sean Sullivan (4:18.26 – 127
th).
The Rams also competed in two other events on Saturday, as Arthur Gooden just missed an IC4A qualifier in the 500 meters, posting a season-best time of 1:05.26, good for ninth overall. The other event for Fordham was the women's distance medley relay, where Angelina Grebe, Laura Jaeger, Laurel Fisher, and Brynna Harum, posted a season-best time of 12:10.23, which was 14
th overall.
The Rams will next be in action next weekend, when they compete at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship, which will be at Mackal Fieldhouse in Kingston, Rhode Island
