Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University men's basketball Rams continue their 2017-2018 Atlantic 10 season, the 115th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by traveling to St. Louis, Mo., to face the Saint Louis University Billikens in the Chaifetz Arena on Saturday, February 3, at 8:00 p.m. (ET)
The matchup between Saint Louis and Fordham is part of the
Jesuit Basketball Spotlight. Dedicated to academic rigor, research, faith and serving others, Jesuit Catholic education stands at the intersection of minds, hearts and souls. The Jesuit Basketball Spotlight (JBS) is a nationwide effort to capitalize on basketball games between Jesuit schools and, through those games, bring greater positive awareness and exposure to Jesuit education and its shared mission.
The game will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and
www.wfuvsports.org with Raffaele Elia (p-b-p) and Billy Reinhardt (color) announcing.
Fordham enters the game with a 7-14 overall record, 2-7 in the Atlantic 10, after an 82-69 A-10 win over UMass in the Rose Hill Gym last Saturday afternoon while Saint Louis is 12-11 overall, 5-5 in the conference, after a 60-59 A-10 win at Saint Joseph's on Wednesday night.
Saturday night's contest will be the 14th meeting between Fordham and Saint Louis on the hardwood with the Billikens leading the all-time series, which started in 1971-72, 10-3, and they have won eight of the last ten match-ups. Antwoine Anderson scored a game-high 20 points and
Javontae Hawkins added 17.
Notes
• Senior guard
Will Tavares, who leads the Rams in scoring (14.5 ppg), has scored in double figures in 17 of his 20 games this year. He is currently 19th in the Atlantic 10 in scoring.
• Tavares does most of his damage in the second half of games where he is averaging 9.6 ppg (compared to 4.9 in the first half).
• Junior guard
Joseph Chartouny leads the NCAA this year in steals/game with 3.43.
• Chartouny has 222 career steals, good for fourth on the Fordham all-time list.
• Chartouny has 404 career helpers, sixth-best in school history.
• Chartouny is one of three Atlantic 10 players to rank in the top 20 in assists, steals and rebounds, joining Davidson's Jon Axel Gudmundsson and Saint Louis' Jordan Goodwin.
• Fordham also leads the league, and is sixth in the nation, in steals with 198 (9.6/game).
