Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University men's basketball Rams continue their 2017-2018 Atlantic 10 season, the 115th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by hosting the Duquesne University Dukes in the historic Rose Hill Gym on Saturday, January 6, at 3:30 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live on the CBS Sports Network with Tom McCarthy (p-b-p) and Steve Lappas (color) announcing and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and
www.wfuvsports.org with James Corrigan (p-b-p) and Emmanuel Berbari (color) announcing.
Fordham enters the game with a 6-8 overall record, 1-1 in the Atlantic 10, after a 69-65 overtime A-10 win over Richmond in the Rose Hill Gym on Wednesday night while Duquesne 11-4 overall, 2-0 in the conference, after a 69-52 A-10 win over George Washington in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Saturday afternoon's contest will be the 37th meeting between Fordham and Duquesne on the hardwood with the Dukes leading the all-time series, which started in the 1949-50 season, 21-15. The two teams split a pair of games last year with the Duke winning 75-72 on December 30 in the Rose Hill Gym as Emile Blackmon scored 17 points and Mike Lewis II added 15 and the Rams winning 70-52 in Pittsburgh on February 22 when
Javontae Hawkins netted 20 points and Chris Sengfelder added 19.
Notes
• Senior guard
Will Tavares, who leads the Rams in scoring (16.5 ppg), has scored in double figures in each of the 14 games this year. He is currently eleventh in the Atlantic 10 in scoring.
• Junior guard
Joseph Chartouny leads the Atlantic 10 and is second in the NCAA this year in steals/game with 3.64.
• Chartouny has 201 career steals, good for fifth on the Fordham all-time list.
• Chartouny has 361 career helpers, ninth-best in school history.
• The 2017-2018 Rams are fifth the Atlantic 10 in scoring defense (67.4) and are third in the league in three-point field goal percentage defense (.314).
• Fordham also leads the league in steals with 156 (11.1/game).
