Bronx, N.Y. – Peter Banas, former men's and women's assistant tennis coach at Sacred Heart University, was named assistant women's tennis coach at Fordham University it was announced today.

Banas served as the assistant men's and women's tennis coach at Sacred Heart last fall, where he helped the men's team to a strong showing at the Connecticut State Championships with two of his players teaming up for a B Doubles title.

At Sacred Heart, Banas was responsible for running team practices and analyzing and selecting recruiting videos prospects. He also was charged with promoting and organizing fundraiser tennis events.

Prior to his stint at Sacred Heart, Banas served as the head tennis professional at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in New York from 2014-2016. He was a serving partner for John McEnroe during the ATP Senior Tour and coached and advised Agnieszka Radwanska, ranked second in the WTA, Jelena Ostapenko, ranked fifth in the WTA, and Noah Rubin, ranked in the top 200 in the ATP.

Banas also developed tennis clinics for adults and children and managed a high performance program at the McEnroe Tennis Academy.

A 2010 graduate of the University of Louisiana – Lafayette where he earned a bachelor's degree on sports management, Banas was a member of the ULL men's tennis team, earning All-America honors and ranking among the top 25 in the NCAA Division I.

Banas also received a master's degree from ULL in 2014.
