Women’s Rowing Trains in Florida over Break

Rams work out in Miami Beach

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham Women's Rowing Team returned to classes and regular-season practices this last Tuesday.  The cold temperatures and indoor erg workouts made for an abrupt transition following last week's two-a-day rows in sunny Miami Beach, Florida.

Every year, the Rams travel down to Miami Beach for one week of winter training in the warmth and the sun.  This year the trip took place between Saturday, January 6th and the 13th.

With four 8+s of women in attendance, the team flooded into Miami Beach Rowing Club to take the water in the mornings and afternoons.  Head Coach Ted Bonanno said that this trip was "One of the best Miami trips of all time."  All crews practiced with conviction and looked incredibly strong.  Throughout the course of the week the women worked to improve fitness and technique with visible results on the water.

In addition to practicing twice a day, the team enjoyed stepping out of the hotel to play on the beach and in the ocean.  Rowers spent time bonding over team meals and explored the Miami Beach area.

The Rams had an incredibly productive week and spirits are high among the coaches and rowers as they return to their regular training schedule back on the Rose Hill campus, until they return to on the water training in the very near future.  The quality of the training in Miami bodes well for a very successful spring racing season.
