Staten Island, N.Y. – It was a record breaking day for the Fordham track & field team at the NYC Gotham Cup held at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. on Friday, as the program saw two records fall with
Mary Kate Kenny breaking the school record in the 60-meter dash, while
Louis Santelli set the school record in the 1,000-meter run.
Santelli ran the 1,000-meter run in 2:25.80, breaking the old record set by Ryan Polo (2:26.10) in 2014. Kenny broke her own record that she set last year, running the 60-meter dash in 7.79 seconds.
Fordham also posted strong performances in the relay events to close the meet. Fordham's 'A' distance medley relay team won the event in an IC4A qualifying time of 10:06.00, while the women's 'A' team also took first in 12:34.17. The Ram men also won the 4x800 relay in a time of 8:01.29 while the women placed second in 9:33.30.

Ryan Riviere finished second in the pole vault, clearing 4.35 meters.
Top individual performances for the women included
Anais Karagianni (5
th – 9.02) in the 60-meter hurdles,
Stephanie Leo (7
th – 10:40.67) in the 3,000-meter run,
Angelina Grebe (7
th – 5:09.35) and
Blake Elwood (10
th – 5:12.85) in the mile run,
Brynna Harum (5
th – 3:03.83),
Katarzyna Krzyzanowski (7
th – 3:05.68) and
Laurel Fisher (9
th – 3:05.83) in the 1,000-meter run.
In the field events,
Kathryn Kelly finished third in the long jump with a jump of 5.44m and
Neve Devine finished in a tie for ninth, clearing 1.55m.
The Rams return to action at the annual Terrier Classic at Boston University on Friday, January 26.
