Women’s Soccer Falls to Hofstra, 1-0

Sophomore Kelly LaMorte Makes Three Stops for the Rams

Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra's Madeline Anderson scored on a set piece in the sixth minute, while Jenna Borresen made four saves, as the Pride downed the Fordham Rams, 1-0, at Hofstra Soccer Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 2-2-2 on the year, while Hofstra improved to 3-3-1.

Much like last year's contest, Hofstra found the scoresheet early, scoring in the sixth minute.  Madeline Anderson headed in a Noriana Radwan corner kick past Fordham goalkeeper Kelly LaMorte for her first of the year.

LaMorte held the deficit at one heading into halftime, as she made a pair of diving stops later in the first half.

Fordham pressed the attack throughout the second half, outshooting the Pride, 5-3, and forcing Hofstra goalkeeper Jenna Borresen to make four saves, but the Rams could not record the equalizer, falling by a 1-0 score.

LaMorte finished with three saves for the Rams, with Brooklyn Gonzalez being credited with a defender save in the 79th minute.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, September 10th, when the Rams host the UConn Huskies at Jack Coffey Field, beginning at 1:00 PM.
