SERIES HISTORY: This will be the 11th all-time meeting between Fordham and Lafayette with the Leopards holding a 6-3-1 edge in the series, with most of the match-ups coming in the early 1990s when the two teams were members of the Patriot League.  In recent years, the Rams and Leopards have played each other in each of the last three years with each team winning once to go with a tie.  Fordham won the 2014 match at Jack Coffey Field, 2-1, while Lafayette took the 2016 meeting, 3-1.  The two teams played to a scoreless draw in 2015, which was the last match-up in Easton.

ALUMNI GAME TO BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 23rd: The Fordham men's soccer team announced that this year's Alumni game will take place on Saturday, September 23rd, following the Rams' contest against Bryant.

The Fordham-Bryant game is set for a 1:00 PM start with the Alumni Game to follow at approximately 3:00 PM or shortly following the conclusion of the Fordham-Bryant game.  A postgame reception will be held following the game, where alumni, family, and friends can meet the current team and coaching staff.  Food and drinks will be served.  There is a $20 registration fee which includes a $10 tax-deductible gift to the men's soccer program.

Alumni interested in participating in game or coming to the reception are asked to register on-line.  If you have any additional questions, contact assistant coach Gavin Wyse at gwyse@fordham.edu or at (718) 817-0744.

JANOS LOEBE NAMED A-10 CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK (9/6): The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly men's soccer awards on Tuesday for games played August 28th - September 3rd with Fordham junior forward Janos Loebe (Kierspe, Germany) earning Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors.  He shared the honor with VCU's Rafael Andrade Santos.

This is Loebe's fifth career weekly award, having been named Offensive Player of the Week twice last season and Rookie of the Week twice in 2015.

In Fordham's lone contest this week, Loebe scored the game-winning goal against St. John's on Friday night, as he registered three shots in the game. The 1-0 win is the Rams' first over St. John's since 1990.

LAST TIME OUT: Columbia's Vana Markarian scored the only goal of the contest, while Dylan Castanheira made three saves, as the Lions downed the Fordham Rams, 1-0, at Commisso Soccer Stadium.

The lone goal of the contest came early in the fifth minute, as Vana Markarian headed in a Francisco Agreest corner kick that snuck inside the right side of the goal for his first of the season.

The Rams almost tied the game in the 35th minute, when Janos Loebe got free on a long ball, where he was 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper.  Loebe was clipped by the keeper but no foul was called, and play continued.

In the 44th minute, Matt Miller came in on a rush down the right side, but his shot from 10 yards sailed wide of goal.  Fordham continued fighting hard to find the equalizer in the second half, as the Rams had four corner kicks and seven shots in the period, but could not convert any of those chances.

Columbia goalkeeper Dylan Castanheira made three stops for his first shutout of the season, while Fordham's Rashid Nuhu also had three saves.

WHO'S NEXT: Following Friday's game, the Rams will finally have the team's home opener on Wednesday, September 13th against Marist, beginning at 7:00 PM on Jack Coffey Field.  That game will be followed by a game at Quinnipiac on Saturday, September 16th at 1:00 PM.
