Annapolis, Md. – Behind three-goal games from
Massimiliano Mirarchi,
Will Smoot, and
Sam Wheeler, the Fordham water polo team defeated Washington & Jefferson, 18-3, in the team's final game at the Navy Invitational at the Scott Natatorium in Annapolis, Maryland.
With the win, Fordham improved to 3-1 on the season.
The Rams came out firing on all cylinders in the first quarter, scoring seven times offensively, while not allowing a goal on the defensive end for a 7-0 lead.
Massimiliano Mirarchi scored three of the first four goals, while
Ethan Vandeventer scored twice later in the period. Philip Wang and
Samuel Varshisky had the other markers in the period.
Fordham continued to pour on the offense, netting three goals in the second, two in the third, and six in the fourth for the 18-3 final score.

For Fordham, Mirarchi and
Sam Wheeler each had three goals, while
Will Smoot also had three goals to go with an assist and two steals. Vandeventer and
Yuki Saito added two goals apiece with Wang,
Magnus Sims, Varshisky, and
George Maltby netting one goal each. In net,
Patrick Coffey had seven saves to go with an assist and two steals.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Saturday, September 9
th, at the Princeton Invitational. The Rams face Santa Clara at 5:30 PM.
